[March 15th, early afternoon]

Sitting in the British Literature classroom was a man who could have been mistaken for a student. Though he was sitting at the teacher's desk, he had his sneakered feet propped up on it, crossed at the ankles as he boredly sifting through a stack of papers. His dark gray pants were baggy, and covered in zippers and pockets, and he wore a white t-shirt with the sleeves ripped off, an assortment of vividly colored paint streaks covering it. Occasionally, he'd reach up to run a hand through the strands of dark brown hair that fell over the side of his face, brushing them behind his ear, or look up from the papers as people passed by in the halls.

Faces are made at anyone who dares to stop and peek in.

"Ahh—!" he exclaimed as he reached for the haphazardly tossed instrument. It fell quite short, actually, and he very nearly tripped while trying to successfully retrieve it. In the end, he had only barely managed.

"Thanks. Um..." he trailed. Well, he didn't know anyone's names yet. "I'll be sure to return it by the end of the day!"

Ritsu was a bit confused. Did he do something worth laughing at? Or was there a joke somewhere he missed? Well, it didn't really matter if he didn't get it, he supposed.

"No, that's all right! I do have my own, after all! I just... can't seem to find them right now." He added the last part with a more defeated tone, embarrassed to have overlooked even such a little, and yet still important object. At the very least, he wasn't making a very good first impression.

"I'm Ritsu Onodera," he continued with a small bow, picking his confidence back up. "It seems like we'll be working together from now on, so I hope we get along well!"

"Hmm... Purple?" he echoed, trying to remember which pack he had picked up, himself. In all honesty, he didn't pay too much attention to it. He thought he had gotten a standard one... It must have been the same pack. "Sorry. I think mine might have been the same. But I'll trade you! It doesn't really matter what color it is to me so long as I can write with it."

He didn't think anything strange of the latter comment, and as such, he inadvertently paid no attention to it.

If it was that hard to find, it must have been some sort of rare item. He was doing Ritsu a favor now, so maybe he might try to research it a bit later. It'd be a nice gesture, at least, and more appropriate than a simple trade.

But just now, did he hear that right? Was he just called "sweetie"...? It was embarrassing to hear, but— like he had said himself, this guy seemed very friendly. Ritsu was sure he didn't mean anything by it, so he let himself forget about it.

"Ah, no! This should be all for now!" he replied. He gave another small bow as he added, "Thank you very much!"

"Yes, I will, then. Thank you again!" he smiled back, even though the gesture was lost on him. So, taking the marker with him, he turned to make his exit, but he realized that perhaps he should have offered the same. Ritsu was still new and had much to learn himself, but he was pretty capable, or liked to think he was, at least. Besides, it was good etiquette to have a sort of mutual support system between coworkers, right?

"Ah, by the way," he added then, turning around to face him once more. "I'm not sure how much assistance I could offer depending on the task, but if you ever need anything as well, feel free to rely on me."

Maybe he chose his words poorly. It wasn't exactly that he was looking for more work to do, but he just didn't want to end up as the one who kept depending on everyone else. Oh well. It probably wouldn't be anything to worry over anyway, so he didn't mind.

"Well then, I should return to my classroom," he continued. "It was nice meeting you."
